Rahul Khanna

Rahul Khanna is a highly experienced marine professional with 30 years in operations and risk management within the shipping and insurance sectors. Rahul is serving as the Global Head of Marine Risk Consulting at Allianz, where he leads a global team and focuses on risk consulting strategy for the marine business of Allianz Commercial and works with the executive team in portfolio steering. Rahul has also played a key role in digital transformation initiatives and has been working on sustainability measures in the sector.

Rahul is a qualified master mariner who has spent 14 years at sea sailing on oil tankers, bulk carriers and Oil bulk Ore (OBO) carriers and sailed as a captain for the last few years trading worldwide before coming ashore.

After completing an MSc in Shipping trade and finance with distinction from Cass Business School in London he worked with a leading marine consultancy for around 4 years where he acted as a Marine consultant and a Warranty Surveyor on large offshore Oil and gas projects and has extensive risk assessment experience working with oil major clients. He carried out numerous casualty investigations, including a few high profile cases, providing legal reports to maritime law firms and acted as expert witness in arbitration cases.
