Malin Högberg

Malin Högberg is a Specialist at WERKS Advokater AB, a Swedish law firm renowned for its expertise in complex legal matters. Malin specializes in sanctions and regulatory matters, as well as shipping and insurance law, working with contractual law as well as doing litigation and casualty work.

Prior to joining WERKS, Malin held various roles within The Swedish Club, a leading mutual marine insurance company based in Gothenburg, Sweden. Beginning her time at the Club within P&I and FD&D claims in 2012, from 2020 to mid-2024, Malin served as Director Corporate Legal and member of the Club’s management team, overseeing legal affairs for the Club and serving as Secretary of the Board of Directors. Malin further represented the Club in various committees and forums within the International Group of P&I Clubs and Cefor, most significantly chairing the IG’s Sanctions Committee from end of 2022 to mid-2024, leading the IG’s negotiations with EU, US, and UK authorities on especially sanctions against Russia. Malin is a member of the Board of the Swedish Maritime Law Association and, as of 1 January 2025, serves as a deputy member of the Swedish War Insurance Board, Krigsförsäkringsnämnden, as appointed by the Swedish Government.

Malin’s academic credentials include a LL.M. from the University of Gothenburg and an LL.M. in Maritime Law from the University of Oslo. She also holds a Deck Officer Class VII from Chalmers University of Technology and has a background in sailing traditionally rigged tall ships as an AB and later as first officer.
