Elizabeth Schmidt

Liz Schmidt is a seasoned maritime professional and nonprofit executive dedicated to advancing equity and opportunity across the offshore and yachting sectors. As Executive Director of the Women Offshore Foundation, Liz leads strategic initiatives that expand workforce development, strengthen industry partnerships, and elevate the visibility of women in maritime careers. Her leadership has modernized internal operations, grown community engagement, and positioned the organization as a leading voice for inclusion and impact at sea.

With a background that spans hands-on vessel operations, business development, and nonprofit transformation, Liz brings a unique perspective to the maritime industry. She holds a US Coast Guard Captain’s License and has crewed aboard passenger ferries and private yachts, gaining firsthand experience in vessel handling, crew support, and guest services. Her entrepreneurial work includes scaling Shipyard Supply USA, where she led a successful rebrand, scaled operations, and oversaw a 72% increase in sales over 2 years.

Through her involvement with Captain Sandy’s Charities, Liz has advanced maritime outreach and industry visibility. She regularly speaks at international industry events, including the Monaco Yacht Show and METS Trade’s Women In Nautica Conference, sharing insights on nonprofit innovation, crew wellness, and inclusive leadership.

Liz resides in Fort Lauderdale, FL where she enjoys recreational boating along the “Vencie of America” and traveling as often as possible.
